1. Introduction
The term „real estate law“ summarises the statutory provisions regulating rights in rem to immovable objects and acquisition and loss of the same.
„Real property“ means immovable objects. In Austrian legal language this term is practically used as a synonym of the term „ Grundbuchskörper“ (land register unit). In terms of the law every land register unit has to be treated as a whole. It is an object of legal transactions and may consist of one or several plots of land. Plots are parts of the surface of the earth defined by a number.
