1. Introduction
Employment law governs the relationship between an employer and an employee. As discussed in greater detail below, laws at the federal, state, and local level apply to the relationship between an employee and employer. They govern such issues as hiring and termination; employment contracts; wages and compensation; working conditions; discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
