1. General
Arbitration is a method of dispute resolution based on the idea that parties agree to have their dispute decided by persons in whose competence and expertise they trust. Those persons are referred to as arbitrators and assume the role regularly held by judges in courts of law. In the vast majority of cases either a sole arbitrator or a panel of three arbitrators constitute the arbitral tribunal.
