In 2018, I was asked – as „professeur invité“ at one of the Brussels faculties of law in which I had recently started teaching – to devise a new course in Legal English for undergraduates, a module that would be neither „just a language course“, nor „a law course proper“. I did not have to ponder the task too long before knowing where to look for inspiration, familiar as I was already with Heidinger and Hubalek’s multi-volume work on Anglo-American Legal Language, and having received countless recommendations for the same from colleagues in the network of Legal English teachers across Europe, who gather annually under the umbrella of the European Legal English Teachers’ Association (www.euleta.org ).
