European conflict of laws and jurisdictions rules for international banking transactions
In July, the Austrian legislator ratified the "Brussel's" Convention on Jurisdiction and Enforcement of Judgements in Civil and Commercial Matters as well as the "Roman" Convention on Obligations. Both Conventions will presumably become effective after the deposit of the instrument of ratification in late fall. While the draft of the regulations of the Brussel's Convention had already, to a large extent, been assumed in 1996 with the Lugano Convention, the Roman Convention on Obligations placed the Austrian conflict of law rules on new foundations.
