The Cottage Verein’s objective was to alleviate the housing shortage by providing affordable inexpensive family housing in a healthy garden-district environment. The original target-groups were state and municipal civil servants and their families, as well as officers or their widows. The Cottage Verein was established as a non-profit organization and in order to make the purchase of a home feasible, offered its members the possibility to pay off the purchase price through installments.
