1. Introduction
Antitrust law in Germany is governed by the Act Against Restraints on Competition (Gesetz gegen Wettbewerbsbeschränkungen – GWB). In addition, special antitrust legislation exists for certain areas, such as the Telecommunications Act ( Telekommunikationsgesetz – TKG), the Energy Industry Act (Energiewirtschaftsgesetz – EnWG) and the Railroad Act (Allgemeines Eisenbahngesetz – AEG).
