Fiscal and Economic Policy under EMU
European Economic and Monetary Union as agreed at the beginning of May for now eleven EU member countries is the starting point for a positive economic development in Europe. Although tremendous progress was achieved European countries should make use of all potential chances as the common European currency is no end in itself. A very cautious but efficient harmonisation of tax systems is as important as a coordinated employment policy. The success of a common European economic policy is based on a more emotional relationship of European citizens toward Europe itself.
